Our first blog …. What to write?…Lets start at the beginning….
Kerrie and I met for the first time on route to the airport, with mixed feelings of nerves and excitement. We had no idea what to expect and what would be lying ahead of us in France at the training camp. After a hassle free journey we arrived at the airport and then the fun began!!
A common mistake for us girls is packing to much, after stuffing as much from my suitcase into my hand luggage we were all checked in. I thought that was to be the end of the airport hassle but I was wrong… I forgot my cycling tools were still in my rucksack and this does not go down well when going through security!! Finally I was free to have the much need visit to Starbucks … unfortunately this had to wait as they wanted to drug test my belongings…I passed!! At last having been fueled by Starbucks. we made it too the departure lounge. Our next mission was to find Stuart. Luckily he was wearing one of our teams snazzy Matrix hoody =) so our mission was soon completed and we could board the plane.
Poor Stuart had to sit in between two excitable giggling girls, I did feel sorry for him! After a short flight and a bumpy landing we arrived in Carcassonne to be greeted by Stefan. Finally we got to meet the girls. What should we say about them? (Bearing in mind we still have another week here to go) They are an awesome group of girls, they have been really welcoming, fun to be around and have shown themselves to be true professionals. We feel we have bonded well with them and looking forward to see what humorous antics are in store for the remainder of our trip.
It has been such a privilege for us to be working with a highly motivated team. They have been keen to join in with the stretching classes, though I think we are slightly less popular when it comes to core. The massages are going down well on or custom, professionally carpentered plinth courtesy of Stefan and Stuart. We were also excited to being using Rocktape, this has been brilliant for dealing with mid camp niggles.
Thank you girls and Stefan for making us feel part of the family, looking forward to a successful season and minimal bottle drops =)
